Zane Lowe originally named Alexander Zane Reid Lowe was born on 7 August 1973 and is famously known as ‘Zipper’. He is a radio DJ and television presenter who was born in New Zealand, before he moved to England. He presents the BBC Radio 1′s evening slot show, where he plays an assortment of different music that includes rock, punk, drum, and hip hop.
He has also presented the MTV Rocks show Gonzo as he had been a former VJ presented for the first time on channel MTV since 1997. However, gonzo initially presented a random collection of presenting and clips which is now evolved to a primetime show that features regular musical guests and interviews. He presents the show in a laid back manner compared to his radio show where the background is turned into blue and the very notorious brown couch which has become the identity of the show.
Zane has won a number of awards that include the best radio show and best TV show at the NME awards 2006. He also received the best radio show NME award in the years 2007 and 2008 which witnessed his constant success. Chris Moyles; who is a colleague at Radio 1 refers the best radio shows as the Zane Lowe award being aware of his constant wins over the years. He also won the gold award in The specialist music program award and music broadcaster of the year categories at Sony Radio Academy awards in the year 2006, 2010 and 2011.
The concept of playing the masterpieces which are considered to be a bonafide classic by Zane and his team and a one whole week of his show is dedicated to these masterpieces. Lowe currently resides in London alongside his wife and two sons, Jackson and Lucius.
